  1. Thank you for examining Paladin for Wave Blaster ("Paladin").

  3. Paladin is a full featured editor for developing new sounds on your
  4. Wave Blaster, and it is a librarian for managing those sounds. 
  5. Extensive automatic online help and a mouse interface makes Paladin
  6. easy to learn and fast and intuitive to use.
  7.  
  8. This is the Unregistered Shareware version of Paladin for Creative
  9. Lab's Wave Blaster only. It is incompatible with other Proteus modules.
  10.  
  11. A version of Paladin is available that will automatically configure
  12. itself to work with multiple Proteus modules of different types,
  13. including modules with custom wavesets, Vintage Keys, and the Wave
  14. Blaster.  For additional information on this, please send email to
  15. author at the address given below.

  17. Before running Paladin for the first time, you must first run
  18. the INSTALL program.  This installs the working PAL.EXE and
  19. subdirectories in place, in the same directory as INSTALL.
  20.  
  21. Paladin has extensive automatic online help:  When you pass the mouse
  22. cursor over any active area of the screen (a command or control)
  23. Paladin prints a message at the bottom of the screen telling you
  24. about it.  For this reason there is little need for an extensive
  25. manual.  However, the file "MANUAL.TXT" does contain some useful
  26. additional information.  It is brief and worth at least a quick
  27. glance, even if you are of an anti-manual persuasion.

  29. This Unregistered version of Paladin is fully functional but somewhat
  30. less convenient than the Registered version because it allows you
  31. to load only Setup or Library files named DEFAULT.  You can save
  32. changes without restriction, either to DEFAULT or to a new filename. 
  33. But you can only load files named DEFAULT back into Paladin.

  35. Paladin is supplied as is.  The author, John Dunn, disclaims all
  36. warranties, expressed or implied, including, without limitation, the
  37. warranties of merchantability and of fitness for any purpose.  The
  38. author assumes no liability for damages, direct or consequential,
  39. which may result from the use of Paladin.

  41. Paladin is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge to the
  42. user for evaluation.  Feel free to share it with your friends, but be
  43. sure to give only the full package (including this file) not altered
  44. in any way, and not as part of another system.

  46. The essence of "user-supported" software is to provide personal
  47. computer users with quality software without high prices, and yet to
  48. provide incentive for programmers to continue to develop new
  49. products.  If you find this program useful and find that you are
  50. using Paladin and continue to use Paladin after a reasonable trial
  51. period, you must make a registration payment of $29.00 to the author
  52. at the address given below.

  54. The $29.00 registration fee will license one copy for use on any one
  55. computer at any one time.  You must treat this software just like a
  56. book.  An example is that this software may be used by any number of
  57. people and may be freely moved from one computer location to another,
  58. so long as there is no possibility of it being used at one location
  59. while it is being used at another.  Just as a book cannot be read by
  60. two different persons at the same time.

  63. Paladin within 30 days of first use or their license is withdrawn.
